    1. Super Warm but Hood & Collar are too small

      POSITIVES:
      +Ridiculously warm. Like a yummy waterproof sleeping bag for extremely low temps. (Too warm however for back country hiking & skiing)
      +Features: strong zipper, ample & well positioned pockets, adjustable cuffs, pow skirt, and armpit zips (necessary)

      NEGATIVES:
      -The TINY Hood. WAY too small to fit any helmet. (Suggestion to Cloudveil: since the hoods can be zipped off, please make and offer a much larger helmet-friendly replacement hood)
      -The Tight Neck Collar. I can't stand using neck gators and the girth of the neck collar is too small for me to zip all the way up and tuck my chin and nose inside when it really blows. I wish it had much more girth.

      Wow! I got this jacket new this year and my goodness it is warm. Like the big-toothed zipper, dueling chest pockets, ipod pocket, zip-out powder skirt, and burly cuffs and fit. Plus, the shell is water proof so I don't have to worry about the down even if the snow turns to rain. Great jacket for the very cold days. I wouldn't take this jacket into the back country (unless I'm hanging out at camp) - just too warm for hiking, but at the ski area it dominates other puffies I've had in the past. Also, have taken it ice fishing and tracking in ID.

      I have the Down Patrol from last year and LOVE it. I can't even imagine walking around Crested Butte at 20 below without this coat! Keeps me dry in driving snow and never too hot on slightly warmer days.

      I've had my Down Patrol for 3 or 4 seasons, riding 30-40 days a year in CO. I absolutely love it. I mainly ride A-Basin and have no problems with how this jacket handles the weather at the Legend. I've brushed off or directly hit many trees and non-snow objects with out a single snag or blemish to the jacket. I bring this jacket with me when I return to MN during the winter and with proper layering, I am cozy during the super-negatives. I can also wear it without any layers on a late march powder day without complaints. I have nothing bad to say and I really have no need for a new jacket anytime soon. Bottom line - My replacement jacket will be another Cloudveil Down Patrol...in another 3 or so years.

      i love this jacket but, the hood is not really all that helmet compatible..should be as big as a arcteryx hood to be right. only thing i would change is: change it to a scuba style storm hood with a bigger neck girth. i snowboard in this jacket here in sun valley ALOT..wish the hood was better and i am totally stoked that you guys thought to put pit-zips in..TOTAL selling point for me.come on guys..knock this jacket out of the park!!

      Wore this jacket sitting in a tree hunting deer in Northern Minnesota. It was early season but was about 25 degrees. The Jacket kept me warm. Was hoping I would be toasty but cant complain. I hope it keeps me as warm when the weather drops below 0. This is really the reason I bought the jacket. very comfortable and good quality. We will see if I feel that way in February when the temps are -20.

      I've had this jacket for two seasons now and I love it! It's my go to in any cold, windy, and dry weather. It may be a bit bulky, but its soo warm and comfortable! It holds all my stuff and has a great pocket for my music. Love it!

      Best jacket I've ever owned. Simple timeless styling. The Fit is unsurpassed... not tight but not to bulky. I have abused this jacket for three years, it has been around the world on various skiing trips and, with the exception of some minor stitching problems, has held up better then anything by the north face or patagonia.

    9. My favorite winter jacket

      Purchased this jacket for everyday wear in Grande Prairie Alberta and skiing in BC and AB. In mid December 2009 we broke temperature records in GP hitting a bone chilling -45 C over 3 days. These are the exact conditions I was thinking about when I bought the down patrol jacket. More importantly I love skiing in my home Province of BC and again the down patrol jacket lived up to my expectations. My Dad and I went for our annual Christmas ski at Big White in Kelowna in the midst of an arctic cold front. Beautiful clear blue bird day, but it was -20 C at the bottom of the Gem Lake chair and a sharp north wind at the top. No problem for the patrol jacket, and the hood fits over my ski helmet - nice! Others were inside warming up and we continued to ski and basically had the hill to ourselves. All time favorite winter jacket and I have owned a few.
