News: Diverse Global Initiatives and Grassroots Causes Motivates Cloudveil Inspired Mountain Ambassador Team

Cloudveil, maker of inspired mountain apparel, announces 30 chosen members of its Inspired Mountain Ambassador team search.

Launched earlier this year via social media channels, the nationwide search for a team of inspiring everyday athletes produced over 400 applicants and one pink plastic flamingo named Charlie.

“We were looking to tap into the excitement and following that Cloudveil has at a grassroots level in the outdoor communities across the nation,” stated Cloudveil marketing coordinator, Nick Brosnan. “We weren’t necessarily looking for the chargers setting the toughest lines, instead the intent was to reach out to a broader range of people who are continuously pushing themselves, their sports and inspiring the people around them. We received an incredible response from athletes, environmentalists, musicians, filmmakers and educators who made narrowing the list a tough task.”

The Inspired Mountain Ambassador team is a diverse and impressive group dedicated to the outdoors making it their mission to do what they can to help bring awareness to global environmental and cultural issues. Their work ranges from studying global warming and its affect on glacial recession, the study and preservation of snow leopards in the South Gobi of Mongolia, habitat restoration projects in Malawi, educational programs for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, to working with disabled skiers and helping others experience the joy of the outdoors.

Two great examples of the new Ambassador team include Craig DeMartino and Matt Fioretti. DeMartino, a veteran rock climber who survived a 100 ft. fall in 2002, has returned to the sport with new vigor with the help of an inventive climbing prosthesis, becoming the first amputee to climb El Cap in a day.

Fellow ambassador Fioretti, a technical high alpine guide in the Himalayas of Nepal for 15 years, was diagnosed with a rare bone disorder that he has successfully conquered and is now heading back to the high mountains to continue guiding.

Cloudveil has opened applications for the Inspired Angling Ambassador team until May 20, 2009. For more information on applying and to check out all the team bios visit Cloudveil.com

The Ambassador team will be spotlighted on the Cloudveil site and members will receive athlete pricing as well as new Cloudveil apparel. They will contribute regularly to the Cloudveil blog, TheMountainCulture.com, as well as post trip reports and relevant regional news. Their feedback on product design and testing will be highly valued as will the role they will play in telling the Cloudveil story in their local communities.
