Mountain

Alex Hassman

Alex lives in the Gallatin Canyon north of Big Sky, MT with his wife Suzy and 15-month old son. He is a sponsored telemark skier with four year's experience competing in the US Telemark Freeskiing Series and was ranked second two seasons overall. He was recently featured in Tough Guy Production's new telemark video – Incognito, and remains an avid backcountry skier, recently dabbling in the US Ski mountaineer race scene. He added a win at Bridger Bowl's rando race this past winter to his resume. When not kayaking, summers are spent training for endurance mountain bike and running events. Alex grabbed first place at the 2004 Montana NORBA XC state final, with a couple of other podium finishes here and there since then. He is currently setting sights on the Trans Alps Challenge - a stage mountain bike race – for Summer 06.

Andrew Fleming

I believe that getting outside my comfort zone and traveling the world while participating in outdoor sports is true living. Being a steward for the earth is important to save the outdoor places we love so we can all continue to enjoy them. Getting people excited for the outdoors makes it fun because then there are more friends to go on adventures with.

Brian Prax

Brian Prax is a Jackson local, Exum Mountain Guide, and longtime Cloudveil product tester. From long alpine rock routes in the Tetons and Wind River Range, cross-country mountain bike mountain tours, and solo big game hunting, to free solo multipitch waterfall ice climbing, backcountry ski and snowboard missions, and solo technical ascents on the world's highest peaks, he is no stranger to the need for technical apparel that meets exacting standards. As a professional product tester, climbing guide, photographer, author (Brian wrote the mountain biking guide book to the Teton area), runway model, and disco dancing extraordinaire, his broad range of experiences contribute to the wide functionality of Cloudveil's line.

Cait Parker

I have been a Ski Patroller for the last five years, most recently at Willamette Pass just outside of Eugene, OR. I am currently living in Oregon where I am working, volunteering and playing in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

Chuck Fryberger

Chuck has been trying to scrape his way to the top of any available object his entire life, though at the age of 13 he decided to focus on mountains, crags, and boulders. Over a decade later, he is just as enthusiastic as ever. In recent years, Chuck has earned a reputation as being one of the most fearless boulderers in the western US, having succeeded on heady test pieces such as The Ineditable (30 ft. V6, Independent Pass, CO) and Injury Man (35 ft. V6, Hueco Tanks, TX), and has established highball boulder problems up to V11, such as the fearsome ‘Skidmark’ on North Mountain at Hueco Tanks. However, his reputation was cemented by the 30’ groundfall he suffered while attempting a ropeless, ground-up ascent of The Thimble in South Dakota’s Needles. Chuck (aka. Underground Chuck) is a Music Technology major at the University of Colorado at Denver, and works on film and music projects out of his home studio.

Craig DeMartino

I've been a climber most of my life, but in 2002 while climbing with a friend in Rocky Mountain National Park, I was dropped 100 feet due to a miscommunication. The fall resulted in the loss of my right leg, a fused back and numerous other life long injuries. After about two years of rehab, I was back to climbing at about the same levels of pre-accident, and in 2005 became the first amputee to climb El Capitan in under 24 hours. I love to ski and mountain bike with my family when I'm not scaling rocks.

Doug Vinson

Hey! I'm Doug Vinson and I am a native Virginian. I live, work and play in the Shenandoah Valley. I am a Virginia State Park Ranger and work for the Department of Conservation and Recreation at Shenandoah River State Park. I'm a true multi sport enthusiast. I thru hiked the AT from Georgia to Maine in 1996, climbed Mt. Rainier twice, rock climb, mountain bike, backpack, kayak, canoe, snowboard, ice climb, fish and fly fish! I love it all!

Drew Virk

Drew was born and raised in Marin County Ca, at the base of Mt. Tamalpais, and on her trails he spent much of his time. After college, Drew was drafted to play professional lacrosse for both the indoor and outdoor leagues. His current head coach position at Stanford allows him several months a year to pursue his love of climbing, telemark skiing, mountain biking, and has recently discovered fly fishing. Drew likes to learn the new and push the familiar.

Eric Anderson

I love living in Teton Valley Idaho... It's the perfect base camp for life's adventures with my wife Sarah and dog Bo. I love showing my clients "The Goods" this place has to offer on a daily basis. Nothing beats seeing the smile on a person face who just made turns through the deepest powder snow of their life or hooked into a trophy Idaho Trout!

Garret Ford

I'm excited to have the opportunity to be part of the Cloudveil Inspired Mountain Ambassador Program. I love my Cloudveil gear and vibe. Distance running, bikes, horses, triathlons, open water swimming, orienteering, etc. If it's an outdoor activity I'm in.

Jason Tattersall

Jason is a local Jackson resident who has been skiing for almost 29 years. During the winter months in Jackson you can find him ripping off beautiful turns in the backcountry of the Tetons. For the summer months his focus is strictly ultra-endurance bike racing all over Wyoming. This hard-core summer fitness program ensures he's in stellar shape for the next big winter to come!

Jason West

Jason lives in Big Cottonwood Canyon and can be found ripping lines all over the Wasatch by day, and remodeling his cabin with his wife Jacquie and spending time with his baby girl Niya at night. "For me skiing is a lifestyle not simply a sport. The mountains have taught me many important truths about life, purpose and how little I control. In life and in sport, I am committed to excellence, integrity, innovation and performance. I am proud to be part of the Cloudveil team and represent a company with the same goals. "The Journey is the Destination.""

Jeff Campbell

The mountains constantly teach me respect. Living to ski another day with my closest friends is the most important decision I make. I am moving to the Pacific Northwest and look forward to climbing new mountains while sharing many powder days with close friends and my wife Kristin.

Jess McMillan

Jess is a Jackson Hole native who is making a name for her self in the ski industry. She finished 2nd on the Freeskiing World Tour 2007 and 3rd on the US Skier-X Tour, 2007. Although her passion is skiing, in the summer you find her kayaking and mountain biking. Recently, Jess has been skiing all over the world; France, Chile, Argentina, and Alaska. When Jess is not skiing, she can be found dreaming up her next adventure, Russia, Patagonia, maybe the Baffin Islands. To find out more about Jess visit: www.JessMcMillan.com.

Jesse Williams

Jesse is a huge asset to the Cloudveil Tech Team with his high level of experience, well rounded ability and soul focused goals. Raised in Virginia and a graduate from Middlebury College, Jesse started his career as a Pro Ski Patroller at Jay Peak and a rock guide in the Adirondacks. He plans this fall to log an expedition on “Wallface Mountain” in his own backyard as an alternative to predominately expensive and consuming trips of flying in and out of the mountains. A true mountain athlete, Jesse works for his living in the hills, and has spent the last ten years guiding in the Northeast, the Cascades, and Alaska, along with a little carpentry in-between.

Jon “JK” Klaczkiewicz

Award-winning producer Jon “JK” Klaczkiewicz maintains a reputation for producing high-end films that go beyond the typical action sports movie formula. As supervising producer at Teton Gravity Research his efforts earned the coveted Ski Movie of the Year Award for the 2003 release of “High Life”. In 2004 his independent documentary about legendary freeskier Kent Kreitler, “Reverence – the Kent Kreitler Story”, broke into a new realm of action sports documentaries. “Reverence” earned a nomination for Ski Movie of the Year in Aspen and Best Biography at X-Dance during the Sundance Film Festival. Following the production of 6 high definition ski TV programs for Rush HD, JK completed the first true high definition big mountain ski movie, “Waiting Game”. The film earned widespread acclaim and another X-Games Ski Movie of the Year nomination. JK is a passionate skier and athlete with a Master’s Degree from the University of Colorado.

Joseph Klementovich

I'm a professional photographer living in the White Mountains of NH. Skiing, climbing, biking and fly fishing is what I do and what I like to photograph. Over the years I've been fortunate enough to travel around and see that we've got some of the best mountains, crags, rivers and trails in the country. So it's great to go on a trip and explore new places, but even better to get back to New England. I'm in North Conway, NH living in site of Whitehorse Ledge with my wife Susan and two boys Alexander and Benjamin.

Karyn Roy

My name is Karyn Roy and I live in Maine with my husband and our one year old son, Tuckerman. Whether skiing, kayaking, surfing, fishing or just exploring, we spend every minute we can outside. We love living in the Northeast because there's not many places you can ski, paddle and surf in the same day!

Kim Berger

I joined the Snow Leopard Trust in 2008. As the Assistant Director of Science I oversee the first long-term study of snow leopards at our research center in South Gobi, Mongolia. We're working to conserve snow leopards by answering fundamental ecological questions about this elusive and little-studied cat.

Kristi Martin

Kristi ended up in Oregon after exploring the rivers of the Pacific Northwest on her breaks during college in Atlanta, Georgia. Moving to Bend, Oregon with a dual degree in photography and graphic design, it quickly became apparent that the Cascade Mountains had more to offer than just the snowmelt in the spring and traded in winter whitewater kayaking for 2 planks and a pair of alpine touring bindings. 7 years after stepping into her first ski setup, she has logged over 300 days on Mt. Bachelor and also enjoyed skiing all over the West Coast of the U.S. and Canada. She recently moved to a 40 acre ranch right outside of the world class sport climbing mecca, Smith Rock State Park, with her boyfriend Zach and their 3 dogs. She is looking forward to learning about living sustainably on a farm as well as logging plenty of days of rock climbing during the off season in her backyard.

Kristin Campbell

I currently ski and climb in the Wasatch and will be moving to the Pacific Northwest. I strive to better myself as an athlete and to share with others my love of the mountains.

Lindsay Yaw

I’m easily amused when it comes to snow—be it skinning, skiing, running, climbing, or building forts. To feed my addiction, I frequent chilly places like Rocky Mtn Nat’l Park’s Dragontail Couloir, the Marble area near Carbondale, CO, Chile’s high altitude peaks, and Arctic Norway’s Lyngen Alps. I like to suffer so I’m an entrepreneur on business number two right now—a social media marketing firm called Swarm Collective—and do occasional 24-hr races on skis and bikes. When not consumed with making companies cool online, I freelance write for outdoor and shelter rags; am on K2 Skis T9 Alliance team where I design and develop K2’s line of women’s skis; have an untanned reindeer pelt at the foot of my bed from a Sami reindeer herder; recently adopted two cats, George and Izze (shout out to Grey’s fans!); and prefer long winters over long summers.

Luke Kretschmar

South Dakota native and current Salt Lake City local Luke Kretschmar knows how to get it done when it comes to the world of outdoor adventure. Powered by a belly of tofu, it’s not uncommon to see Luke laying down fresh backcountry tracks on his snowboard, smearing up a Little Cottonwood granite testpiece, or charging up one of the many canyons on his bike – all in the same day.

Margaret Burns Vap

Margaret Burns Vap is a yogini, yoga entrepreneur and mom. She is the founder of Big Sky Yoga Retreats, combining yoga and outdoor fitness in Montana Big Sky Country. After many years as a city girl, Margaret and her family packed up and moved to Bozeman, Montana, where they enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. Margaret continues her life's work of sharing yoga, while watching her daughter grow up learning to ski and horseback ride.

Mariah McPherson

Hi, my name is Mariah McPherson. I am an environmental engineer that not only loves playing in the desert and mountains, but respects our limited and precious resources. Any spare moment I have, I am headed outside to climb, bike, ski, run or simply to enjoy the sun.

Mark Scholl

Mountains are, perhaps, the biggest driving force in my life. They influence where I live, how I play and who I love. I count among my various hats: skier, ultrarunner, biker, fly fisher, proud papa, gearhead, orthopedic surgeon and broadly inquisitive seeker of beauty!

Matt Floretti

My name is Matt Fioretti. I have been guiding technical climbs of the Himalaya in Nepal for 15 years. This April will be my 26th season and 17th expedition to the high mountains. Bringing people to the mountains is my way of creating positive change in the world. The mountains have a way of touching us and reshaping our thought and action. From 2004 until 2007 I was on the longest hardest climb of my life. I was diagnosed with a rare bone marrow disorder called "Aplastic Anemia". Full body radiation, 18 rounds of Chemo over 2 years, and a bone marrow transplant, have put me back in the mountains. This experience has taught me to follow dreams now. My favorite quote in regards to this is a Tibetan Proverb. "Better to live one day as a tiger than live 100 years as a sheep".

Nick DeVore

"I live to telemark; nothing makes me happier than ripping down something steep and deep. When I am not skiing, I am dreaming about it. I am 20 years old and was born in Aspen, Colorado, where I will be living this season." Last winter Nick won the Colorado Freeride Series. In 2004 he placed second in the US Tele Freeskiing Championships in Crested Butte and in 2003 placed fourth in the Freeskiing and second in the Telecross Championships. This past fall Nick has been climbing limestone on the coast of Thailand and learning to surf in Bali. He enjoyed the beach time, but his true happiness is when the snow falls. This winter's plans include competing in tele and alpine freeskiing comps, skiing big mountain lines, going where the powder falls and filming his journeys.

Paul Bayne

Howdy, I try to live my life outside and share that life with those around me. When I'm not teaching about the Chesapeake Bay by sailing or canoeing, I'm riding a bike or trying to climb something.

Peter Wadsworth

I'm a backcountry skier earning my turns among the weather-worn mountains of New England. I also trail run, climb, race bikes and even show up fairly regularly to a day job. But really, these other things are just enablers for backcountry skiing adventures away from the lifts and crowds."

Reed Lewis

Basically, I am a classic East Coast (Mystic, CT area) transplant and have been in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado for the past 13 years. I enjoy the skiing, hiking, mountain biking and the good people of the mountains. I am pretty psyched to be able to live, work, and play in and around Snowmass Village.

Renee McFarland

Hi, I'm Renee. I live in Bird Creek, a small community on Turnagain Arm, just outside Anchorage. A public defender by day, I spend my days off climbing, hiking, and thinking about learning to ski.

Sam Jurekovic

Sam Jurekovic is a Jackson Hole native who grew up to love and appreciate the outdoors. He started cycling at a young age on trails like "Cache-to-Game" and "Blacks Canyon" and lives to explore epic single track all over the world. In the winter he can be caught crushing laps on Teton Pass as cross training for his job as a professional mountain bike racer. In the summer he is much harder to find as he lives a more or less nomadic lifestyle on the road riding in Switzerland, Italy, Scotland, New Zealand, Argentina, Canada and the US, but he always finds his way home to the Tetons where life began.

Sara Campbell

My name is Sara Campbell and my passion for the outdoors began at an early age on my family's ranch in central Wyoming. I am now involved in ranching, training horses, ice climbing, mountaineering, biking, Crossfit, running and pursuing my dreams.

Sarah Marvez

Sarah has been climbing for six years now, and has been focusing intently on bouldering. Lately she’s been trying her hand on the granite of the Mount Evans Wilderness near her home in Golden Colorado. Winter forces her down to the Front Range of the Rockies, and for one month out of the year all the way to Hueco Tanks Texas, one of the premiere climbing areas in the United States. Sarah’s other passion is architecture, where she contributes her efforts toward sustainable design at Jim Logan Architects in Boulder, Colorado. Studying to become an architect, she finds climbing to be the perfect compliment to her otherwise cerebral existence. Working with Cloudveil has been a positive experience for Sarah, who has been known to destroy her wardrobe with regularity out on the rocks. Good news, all the duds are still intact, and looking forward to many more (happy?) landings.

Sean Crossen

Sean Crossen lives to explore big backcountry peaks. After four seasons of relentless pursuit, Sean has skied 50 of Colorado’s 54 Fourteeners directly from the summit. His goal this season is to finish his quest to become the second person to have skied them all. Praying for another deep winter, Sean plans to add more Fourteener skis from around the US to his list as well. Sean lives in Crested Butte, Colorado with his wife Heather and son Connor. Read dispatches from Sean’s Colorado Fourteener trips: www.naturalsoul.org and www.couloirmag.com

Sonja Lercher

I was raised in Munich, Germany by my single mom who was a ski instructor. After 14 years of racing I discovered the backcountry and became hooked on freeskiing. Competing on the Freeskiing World Tour allows me to express myself, while it gives me the opportunity to support women's freeskiing and help it grow. Please check out Sonja's blog at, http://sonjalercher.wordpress.com

Stephen Koch

Stephen Koch has been a long time Cloudveil Tech Athlete, putting the gear to the test in the toughest of conditions. Stephen is a professional speaker, climber, snowboarder and mountain guide and is a pioneer in the field of Snowboard Mountaineering, a term he coined. His list of alpine ascents and descents include some of the most notable firsts anywhere in the world, most of which have never been repeated. He is the first person to snowboard all the major Teton Peaks in Wyoming, and the first and only person to snowboard on all Seven Summits, the highest peak on each continent. He has also climbed a new route on Denali (Light Traveler) in a single push, completed the first free ascent of the Moonflower Buttress on Hunter and the first winter Grand Traverse in the Tetons. For more information, visit: www.stephenkoch.com

Susan Medville

Susan Medville admits she has a split-personality life. "I have this librarian-sounding job, then I go huck myself off of cliffs." She works professionally helping to set up museums and also is a curator. In her “other job” she competes on the International Freeskiers Association circuit and won the 2003 North American Freeskiing Championships at Kirkwood, CA. She has been the two-time second place finisher in on the North American Freeskiing Tour. In April of 2002, she joined four other women on the first-ever ski expedition to Bhutan. In 2004 she climbed and skied Mt. Blanc in France. Last winter she split her time between Crested Butte, Colorado and British Columbia climbing and skiing. This winter she is looking forward to competing in a couple of big mountain contests and continuing to develop her ski mountaineering skills from Colorado to the Coast Range.

Todd Anders Johnson

I have been merging my passions for music, nature and activism for sometime and it has led me to live in Colorado and travel often to Alaska and the Northwest with my band, Salem. I love to snowboard, mountain bike, raft, kayak, hike and camp. I am currently also working on a film documentary on glacial recession with Charles K. Forest and producing multi-media concerts to raise awareness of the need for policy change.
